Iseppe shines in Atlético’s qualification to the U-20 Copa do Brasil semifinal and looks ahead to the Sudamericana final
Atlético has secured its place in the semifinal of the U-20 Copa do Brasil. This Tuesday (18), the Galo defeated Sport 2–1 at Ilha do Retiro and confirmed its spot among the top four teams in the competition. One of the standout performers of the match was attacking midfielder Mateus Iseppe, the team’s number 10, who scored the opening goal and played a key role in the buildup of the second, which came after his cross.
Enjoying a great moment with the Atlético shirt, Iseppe celebrated both the individual and collective performance in the qualification.
“I’m very happy to have helped the team in such an important game. We knew how tough it would be to play away from home, but the group showed a lot of maturity and stayed focused throughout the 90 minutes. I managed to score, take part in key plays, and that gives me even more confidence for what’s ahead. Now it’s about maintaining this rhythm, because we still have big goals in the competition.”
This is also a special week for the 19-year-old. In addition to his strong performances with the U-20 squad, Iseppe has been named to the roster for the Copa Sudamericana final against Lanús this Saturday (22), at 5 p.m., at Estadio Defensores del Chaco, in Asunción, Paraguay. He has been training with the professional squad and is available to head coach Jorge Sampaoli.
“Training daily with the first team has raised my level with every session. I’ve been working hard to make the most of every opportunity that comes my way. Being selected for a continental final means a lot to me and my family. I’m prepared and ready to help in any way I can.”
